Absences
Students returning to school after an absence must provide a note from a parent/legal guardian within three school days. If a note is not provided, the absence may be recorded as unexcused.
Absences due to illness lasting more than five consecutive school days require a physician’s note.
Tardy Procedures
Students are expected to arrive on time for their scheduled program start time:
-
Morning Session: 8:45 a.m.
-
Afternoon Session: 12:35 p.m.
Students arriving after their scheduled start time must report to the Attendance Office to receive a pass before entering class.
Late arrivals may be considered excused when accompanied by a parent/guardian note that includes the student’s name, date, reason for lateness, and parent/guardian signature.
Early Dismissal Procedures
Early dismissal requests should be reserved for important matters that cannot be completed outside of regular school hours.
Students must submit an Early Dismissal Form (Google Form) or provide a parent/guardian note to the Attendance Office before the start of their scheduled session on the day of the requested dismissal:
-
Morning Session: Before 8:45 a.m.
-
Afternoon Session: Before 12:35 p.m.
The request must include a phone number where a parent/guardian can be reached for verification. The Attendance Office will confirm the request before issuing an early dismissal pass.
All students leaving early must sign out at the Attendance Office before leaving the building. Failure to sign out may result in disciplinary action.
For unplanned early dismissals, parents/guardians are encouraged to email dmoore1@aacps.org in advance. If prior notice is not provided, the parent/guardian must report to the Attendance Office to sign out the student. Please allow additional time for students to be located.
