Honors - Academy of Health Professions

Prerequisite - Biology C or better

Recommended: Chemistry and Algebra

The Academy of Health Professions prepares students interested in various healthcare careers. Students begin this program in their junior year. Level 1 students learn medical terminology and practice hands-on skills, such as CPR/First Aid, taking blood pressure, and providing patient care. In level two, students learn the Nursing Assistant and Medical Assistant ​ curriculum and have the opportunity to earn certification in that field.

 

Students now have an opportunity to apply for the 1 semester class, Patient of Foundation Care, in Academy of Helath as a 10th grade student.

  • Maryland State CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

  • GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant)

  • CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant),
