Marine Systems Maintenance and Repair

This program provides students with the necessary basic skill sets to seek either immediate employment in the marine industry or attend one of the many post secondary schools and colleges offering advanced training and education in marine manufacturing, maintenance, repair and design. Introductory skill sets discovered and learned include: basic marine nomenclature and safety; basic marine electricity; outboard and inboard engine operations, maintenance and repair; marine systems; introduction to fiberglass fabrication and repair, basic carpentry and basic boat handling. Through a grant provided by the Kathy and Gerry Wood Foundation, managed by the American Boat and Yacht Council, students will have the opportunity to test for ABYC industry Standards certification. They will also be able to take the United States Power Squadron ‘America’s Boating Course,’ which is recognized by the United States Coast Guard and many States across the country as fulfilling their safe boat handling requirements.
