In this program, Students will learn to use Computer Aided Drafting to produce
drawings which provide visual guidelines, show technical details of products and
structures, specify dimension, materials, and procedures. These drawings are
used by production and construction workers to build everything from
manufactured products (i.e. toys and industrial machinery) to structures (i.e.
houses and office buildings)
Level 1: will focus only on mechanical drafting specifications and drawings.
Instruction includes the basics of manual drafting using pencil, paper, and the
drafting machine. Students will complete reading and writing assignments from
the textbook, "Drafting for Industry". They will also learn to use CAD at an
intermediate level and implement those skills to complete the majority of the
drawing assignments. Level 2 students will have the opportunity to become
proficient in using the CAD system to design and create drawings. The curriculum
concentrates on architecture, and uses the textbook "Architecture Residential
Drawing and Design". Students will become familiar with the drawings and design
specifications needed to build a house from the ground floor up. They will build
models of their home design projects and participate in a number of group
activities.
This is a 2 year Career Completer program for high school graduation. Students
